The map of the OWM only shows a pink picture?!

Standard communication via internet browsers goes via the 80 port (see wikipedia). Most organizations have a firewall to protect their networks, but this port generally is accessable. This common port 80 is the port used for all OWM communication except for the map, data needed to draw the map are communicated using the 8080 port. Unofficially the 8080 part is reserved for Apache Tomcat (see Wikipedia). In many firewalls this port is closed, just to be on the safe side and as long as nobody needs it.
Solution: Ask you IT department to open up the 8080 port.

Do all the users of Trident get the same access rights?

Everyone with a password and user-id can see almost everything that is stored in the system. Changing data is restricted by access rights. Access rights depend on your role in the project (i.e. manager, captain or secretary) and the company you work for (i.e. project owner, turbine manufacturer or rock dumper).

Which extras are possible on the Trident system?

There are almost no limits to expand Trident with the client’s wishes. As long as your (spatial) data is available for sharing we’ll find a way to show it in Trident.

Can you use Trident on an I-phone?

Yes, you can consult Trident on our I-phone in a supported web browser, but there is little difficulty with panning the maps.

Which browsers are supported by Trident?

o Internet Explorer 7 and higher
o Firefox
o Safari
o Chrome

What's GIS and how does it serve the Trident tool?

GIS means Geographical Information System and is any system that captures, stores, analyzes, manages, and presents data that are linked to location. Technically, a GIS is a system that includes mapping software and tools that can be implemented with GIS software.

For Trident, being a GIS system means you can analyze all data in a spatial manner. You wondered where your jack-up-barge was when a certain event? This can be easily retrieved from your Trident database.

Where is all the data Trident collects stored?

All data (milestones, AIS, weather) Trident collects is stored in a database. This database is built in the open source PostGis/PostgreSQL environment. This means no extra costs for an expensive database are necessary.
